Hi CISVers!
CISV is usually focused on being together, both physically and emotionally. That’s why we have mini camps, host in-person activities, and send kids around the world together. However, that’s also why the COVID-19 outbreak, and the self-quarantining that many of us are doing, is so hard for our chapter—especially since we had to cancel the spring mini camp.
But, even though we might not be physically together, we are still a community. No matter how new your family is to the chapter, we have you all in our minds and in our hearts. Here are links to some fun CISV songs and activities to do with your families:
Lullabies–At every CISV camp we have lullabies every night, where we all sing together before going to sleep. Here are some classic CISV songs for you and your family to listen to:
- Leaving on a Jetplane
- Let It Be
- Imagine
- Don’t Worry, Be Happy
- I’m Yours
- Wonderwall
- Bomfiara (CISV version)
- The CISV Song
Energizers—Before every CISV activity, we do “energizers” to get ready. Energizers are a central part of any CISV camp, and here are some for you and your family:
- Boogaloo!
- Here We Go On A Pony
- Who Gives The Best Hugs?
- The Moose Energizer
- Tarzan
- Boom Chicka Boom!
- Pour On The Gasolina
Causes—A large part of CISV is learning about local and global issues and working to solve them. Since we didn’t have our mini camp to learn about issues, or our monthly activities where we often work with charitable organizations, here are some interesting local and global issues to learn about and get involved in:
- Blood Shortages in the US
- Medical Censorship in China
- LGBT+ Medical Care in Tanzania
- Communication Shutdown in Ethiopia
- Virus Spread in ICE Detainment Facilities
We hope you all stay healthy and well, and feel free to reach out to us for anything at all. The Junior Board might also organize a chapter-wide virtual activity session this week, so keep an eye open for that. If you have a preferred time or medium for that virtual activity, please make that clear.
Stay well!
