Ready to Lead with CISV New York?
CISV International, founded in 1950, is a global peace education organization active in 68 countries with over 200 local chapters. Its mission is to educate and inspire action for a more just and peaceful world through experiential learning, cultural exchange, and international friendship.
As part of this network, CISV New York invites volunteer leaders to guide delegations of young participants in regional, national, and international programs. Leaders play a vital role as mentors, educators, and cultural ambassadors, helping youth explore diversity, cooperation, and global citizenship.

Program Opportunities
CISV runs diverse international educational programs:
- Village (age 11): Four-week camp bringing together delegations from around the world.
- Step Up (ages 14–15): Three-week program where participants plan and lead daily activities with guidance.
- Youth Meeting (ages 12–13): One- or two-week gatherings for intensive intercultural learning.
Leader Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for participants during travel and the program.
- Attend leader training and apply CISV’s peace education approach.
- Help plan and run educational activities.
- Collaborate with international leaders and staff to ensure a safe, positive environment.
Requirements
- Minimum age: 21
- English proficiency
- Completion of background check
- Open-minded, responsible, and enthusiastic about working with youth and different cultures
Support
While leaders are volunteers, CISV covers major expenses, including airfare, housing, and program costs. Leaders also receive training, mentorship, and ongoing support from CISV New York.
