The local Mosaic – Faces of New York program brings CISV’s values of peace education and global friendship home to our own community – a one-week overnight camp for a diverse group of New York area 11- and 12-year-olds. The purpose of this subsidized program is to provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn what it means to be a global citizen and live harmoniously with others – sharing resources and ideas.
See pictures and hear what participants at our 2018 Mosaic Camp have to say:
FACES OF NEW YORK camp experience includes all meals, transportation, accommodations and activities for one week. If your child is accepted to attend the camp, there is a $185 registration fee (you can pay via Paypal), which helps cover the cost of bus transportation to and from the camp and a one-year family membership in CISV-NY, necessary for insurance purposes. Families who truly cannot afford the full registration fee may be eligible for a reduced fee or a waiver.
In addition to a unique, fun-filled experience, all CISV activities are designed to foster these core values among participants: Cooperation, Friendliness, Engagement, Enthusiasm, Inclusiveness.
Our Mission
- To teach kids to become leaders in creating a peaceful, sustainable world
- To teach consideration and cooperation with others
- To teach an understanding of and appreciation for different cultures
- To provide opportunities for leadership and participation in creative decision making
- To facilitate trust, communication and sensitivity through games, theater, dancing, singing, sports, arts and crafts, swimming, and other social activities
Selecting Delegates
30-40 campers, also called delegates, are selected based on CISV criteria (see core values above) to represent diverse groups within the metropolitan area. Eligible children and their families will need to complete an application form and attend an information & interview session to be considered.
Getting Involved
Non-profit community groups, schools and cultural organizations interested in making this opportunity available to children in your community should email: mosaicny@cisvusa.org with information about your group along with the contact name, address, phone number and email address.
A parent or guardian should attend the Information & Interview Session with their child. Applicants are considered on a first-come basis.
